Woodland Grief Counselling
"Give sorrow words; the grief that does not speak whispers theo'er-fraught heart and bids it break."
William Shakespeare
Grief is a universal human experience. It is the agony we endure when facing a loss- a death of a loved one, a miscarriage or stillbirth, a protracted illness, a loss of homeland or language, an separation or divorce, a death of a pet.
Grief, while profoundly painful, is also a natural and transformative aspect of human life. When we acknowledge and allow space for our grief, we give ourselves permission to heal.
Erin offers a safe space for grief to be heard and witnessed. She will not take your grief away, but she will give it breath and voice and perhaps some gentle prodding in order that you may carry both love and loss as you orient anew.

When not at work, Erin can be found tramping about the forest with her family. She loves to run, bake bread and read novels.
Erin's counselling studio is nestled in the woodlands of tod creek flats in Saanich, BC, where she lives on the traditional territory of the SENĆOŦEN peoples.
"Grief is subversive, undermining the quiet agreement to behave and be in control of our emotions. It is an act of protest that declares our refusal to live numb and small. There is something feral about grief, something essentially outside the ordained and sanctioned behaviors of our culture. Because of that, grief is necessary to the vitality of the soul. Contrary to our fears, grief is suffused with life-force....
Grief is alive, wild, untamed and cannot be domesticated." Francis Weller
PHILOSOPHY
Grief is an overwhelming, isolating and desolate experience. Our souls, our thoughts, our bodies, our relationships are all effaced in the suffering of loss. Yet grief, in many ways, is a continuation of our deepest love. We must make space to learn and relearn, to remember and endure the pain of grief and thus continue to love.
Erin's grief counselling philosophy is pluralistic, integrating various theoretical perspectives to best support those in need. She prioritizes the use of current, evidence-based interventions to ensure effective and compassionate care for all clients.
